| All mode 4X4 gives instant access to life and places beyond the boundaries of the everyday. The newly designed 4WD switch (or button on some models) is easy to use and offers three driving modes to choose from.
2WD mode provides excellent fuel economy in normal, on-road driving conditions. In AUTO mode, sensors automatically detect the need for extra traction and distribute the optimum torque between front, wheel drive and full-time four-wheel drive allowing for stable performance while driving. During start-up in AUTO mode, the ALL MODE 4X4 engages 4WD the moment you press the accelerator for quick stable start-ups every time, even on mud and on slippery slopes. LOCK mode locks the X-TRAIL in 4X4 with a fixed front-to-rear torque distribution ratio of 57:43 for added traction. |
